Last year I blogged on the link between Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and eating problems (the diagnosis is now ADHD, not ADD) and I want to give you additional info on the subject from Is There a Link Between ADHD and Overeating. Here are some highlights, though I recommend you read the whole article if you have questions about whether you have ADHD or not or how it may relate to your eating.

You already know you have eating problems. However, many people are not sure if they have ADHD (or maybe don’t want to know it). Several of my clients have had difficulty accepting the diagnosis. Some were ashamed or feared taking medication. They saw ADHD as yet another defect of theirs. 

Please understand that ADHD is a treatable biological “condition.” It’s simply the way your brain works for better—and there are positives about having it, including increased creativity in some people—or worse. The best book I know of on the subject is Delivered from Distraction written by psychiatrists Edward M. Hallowell and John J. Ratey both of whom have ADHD and lead quite successful lives.
